The territory

The territory of Matelica, an ancient Picena and Roman city, is located between two mountains (Monte San Vicino and Monte Gemmo) at the beginning of the province of Macerata. Here, where the mountains of the Apennines are nearest to Matelica and profiles of the countryside are mountainous and influential to wine production, the territory still jealously guards places rich in art, traditions, history and culture. The Matelica vineyards produce vines of average height from rural and mountainous landscapes with strong micro-thermal excursions in small productive, charming and elegant farms.  From these premises arises Verdicchio di Matelica, Sangiovese and Merlot wines with a floral bouquet and strong accents that mirror the scents of its territory. To describe Matelica it is sufficient to repeat the adjectives used to communicate the qualities of its most famous product, the Verdicchio DOC: "Harmonious, elegant, and special".
